Description
Lavinesce is a soap bar containing olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, and lavandin essential oil. It is preservative-free and contains no colourants or fixatives.
Lavinesce is handmade in small batches. The process of saponification involves:
- Mixing the oil and lye solutions
- Blending the new solution to trace
- Pouring the solution into silicone moulds
- Covering the moulds with cardboard
- Putting the soap to bed (covering the cardboard with blankets) for a four-week sleep
- Turning out the soap bars from the moulds
- Levelling the tops of the soap bars and polishing them; and
- Packaging the soap bars into custom-made natural cardboard boxes.
The process is time-consuming, but makes for an extremely pleasing soap bar that is creamy, lathers well, and exudes a subtle lavender scent. No large-scale commercially manufactured soap can compare.
